The family took a little camping trip this weekend.
We camped in my Grandma's back yard.
I love my Grandparents house, so I went for a walk with my camera.

She lives on a farm in northwestern Iowa.
This farm has been in my Grandpa's family for over 150 years.
There is a lot of family history here.

My Grandpa and his Grandpa were both raised here.
My mom and her three sisters were raised in this house.
The whole family spends every Christmas here.

There are three "barns" on the property
We all know their names
The "cat barn", the barn and the Quonset
There use to be the chicken coop barn,
but it was torn down years ago

All over are signs of my mom and her sisters growing up here
Their names are written in concrete all over
I remember making "rivers" with the water pump
And following it as far as we could into the corn field

This house really belongs to us all.
I figure if you can go inside, even if Grandma's not home.
And you know where the key is hidden
And you can grab whatever tool you need from the garage
or a pop from the fridge
or your kids always know that the fruit snacks are hid on the stairs leading to the attic
Then it really is everyones house.

My Grandpa was a farmer his whole life
So was his dad
His Grandpa leased out the land and owned a Cadillac dealership.
My mom and her three sisters were typical farm kids in a small town.
By the time I was born, Grandpa had retired from farming
And started his own mowing business out of boredom.
He passed away about seven years ago, and she misses him terribly.

I really love my Grandparents property.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures

My husband and I recently got some new-to-us bedroom furniture.
The stuff that we had....is the same stuff I've had since I was 15.
Yes, 15.

So, it was time for some new stuff.
I'll tell you more about the furniture we bought later, but now I want to show you how I fixed the old dresser.

Over the years, the dresser top had gotten scratched up a lot.
And, it wasn't an expensive piece to begin with, so it's seen better days.

We're having a garage sale in about 3 weeks, so I wanted to be able to sell it.

Here's what I started with:

All I used to fill the scratches was a brown Crayola marker!
Then I wiped off the excess with a towel.

I did this a couple times over each scratch until they were gone.

This greatly improved the look of this dresser!
And also improved the amount I can ask for it at the garage sale!

I'm all about quick, easy fixes like this!

Come back later on this week and next to see the new stuff we got and learn more about our garage sale!

Thanks for stopping by!

So excited about this weekend.

My oldest son, Ashton, doesn't have school tomorrow, so we're planning on spending the day at the zoo.
We're going for a our first camping trip of the year on Saturday.
And...Ashton doesn't have school on Monday either.

So it's a four day weekend!
Can't get any better then that.

I'm also starting this blog (again)
I changed the name from Cooks + Creates to "The Kitchen is my Dance Floor"
because it totally explains me.

Cheesy Chicken Nuggets

Thanks so much for stopping by today - make sure and leave a comment and I'll follow back!

All kids like chicken nuggets right?
Mine sure do.

These Cheesy Chicken Nuggets are moist and crunchy...
a perfect combination!

The key to making these nuggets so great are soaking them overnight in milk.
Cut a boneless, skinless chicken breast into bite size pieces.
Into a plastic container throw in the chicken, a tablespoon of seasoning salt and enough milk to cover.

#1 - Put a lid on it and store it in the fridge overnight.

#2 - Make sure and drain any excess milk off the chicken pieces.
#3 - I used about 2-3 cups of Reduced Fat Cheddar Crackers. Place them in a zipper sandwich bag. Push all the air out and seal the bag.
#4 - With a rolling pin, smash the crackers...leaving a few big chunks is alright.

Breading these nuggets is easy - no need for an egg wash, the chicken is already moist from the milk soak.

Place your smashed up cracker bits on a plate and roll each nugget around.
Make sure and push the bits into the chicken.
Place the nuggets on a cookie sheet lined with foil and sprayed with cooking spray.

Bake nuggets at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
If you want yours a bit more crispy...leave them in there for 15 minutes.

Serve warm with BBQ sauce and you'll have some happy kids!

I made a huge batch of nuggets and stored the rest in the freezer for a quick lunch.
They can go back in the oven at 350 for 5-10 minutes.
